Jennifer Dale Stables- B.F.A., B.Ed., T.A.P
Jennifer Dale Stables is an author-illustrator, educator, puppeteer, and mother to two boys. She currently lives and works in the town of Okotoks, Alberta, Canada. Jennifer holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a specialization in painting, and a Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood Education from the University of Calgary. She studied Art Education and Art Therapy at the University of Concordia in Montreal and holds a Certificate as a Therapeutic Arts Practitioner from the Canadian International Institute of Art Therapy. In addition to writing and illustrating picture books, she teaches art in schools as an artist in residence, and through community programs in Okotoks and Calgary. Jennifer exhibits and sells her artwork through Lineham House Galleries in Okotoks, the Okotoks Art Gallery, Loop Kids in Okotoks, Alberta's Own Marketplace in Canmore, and online.
Equal to her love of art is Jennifer’s passion for education. Jennifer worked as a classroom teacher with the Calgary Board of Education from 2005 to 2014. During this time she led numerous professional development sessions for staff on infusing art into the curriculum and Reggio-inspired practices such as the use of documentation for learning. She also served as a Director and President for the Calgary Reggio Network Association from 2011- 2014.
Through her business, Jenny Dale Designs, Jennifer creates whimsical original art pieces, illustrations, books, puppets, and public artwork. She has written and/or illustrated over 20 publications including picture books, educational resources, poetry books, and chapter books. Drawing on her experience as a former classroom teacher, Jennifer's artwork and writing are expressions of love and joy that honour children's intelligence and immense capability for learning.
